Aluminum Liquid Cold Plate machining is currently the most advanced thermal management solution for high-power electronic devices, electric vehicle (EV) battery systems, and data servers. At our precision engineering hub in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, the application of 6000 Series aluminum alloys combined with multi-axis CNC milling technology enables the fabrication of cooling plates with complex internal liquid channels. VINACNC's workflow focuses on optimizing heat transfer performance by controlling surface flatness and ensuring the absolute leak-tightness of the circulation system, keeping components operating within safe temperature thresholds.

CNC Machining Expertise for Liquid Cooling Aluminum Blocks

To achieve optimal heat dissipation, VINACNC applies specialized machining techniques:

  • CNC Milling of Liquid Channels: High-speed CNC milling is used to create internal circulation paths (serpentine or manifold) within the aluminum block. These channels are designed to maximize the heat exchange area between the coolant and the plate.

  • Surface Roughness Control: The contact surface between the Cold Plate and the power module is machined to achieve ultra-fine surface roughness. This eliminates microscopic air pockets, increases the actual contact area, and minimizes thermal contact resistance.

  • Absolute Flatness: Milling the surface to micron tolerances is vital to ensure perfect contact with chips or semiconductor components, preventing localized overheating.

  • Sealing Technology: Supporting the machining of O-ring grooves or surface preparation for Friction Stir Welding (FSW) to hermetically seal the liquid channels.

Professional Export Packaging and Preservation Process

Aluminum Cold Plates require strict protection to maintain surface flatness and channel cleanliness. VINACNC implements a rigorous international standard packaging process:

  1. Ultrasonic Cleaning and High-Pressure Drying: Thoroughly removes aluminum chips, machining oils, and impurities from internal channels using industrial ultrasonic systems, followed by drying with pure compressed air.

  2. Oxidation and Contamination Protection: Each cooling plate is wrapped in protective PE film and vacuum-sealed or placed in specialized VCI anti-rust paper to prevent salt-air humidity impacts during transit from Vietnam.

  3. Multi-layer Cushioning: Products are placed in shaped foam trays or thick bubble wrap to eliminate mechanical vibration and impact that could deform the precision contact surfaces.

  4. International Standard Crating: Components are packed in fumigated wooden crates (ISPM 15 standard) or high-grammage reinforced cartons with secure strapping.

  5. Traceability Labeling: Clear labeling displaying part codes, specifications, and barcodes for efficient destination logistics control.
