Liquid Cold Plate machining for high-power semiconductor components such as SCRs and IGBTs is the optimal thermal management solution for inverters, EV charging stations, and energy transmission systems. At our precision engineering hub in Bac Ninh, Vietnam, the application of 6000 Series aluminum alloys or pure copper combined with multi-axis CNC milling technology enables the fabrication of cooling plates with sophisticated internal channels. VINACNC's workflow focuses on ensuring micron-level surface flatness and instantaneous heat dissipation, protecting power components from overheating and maintaining long-term operational performance.

SCR and IGBT Cold Plate Fabrication Expertise at VINACNC

The thermal efficiency of the liquid system depends directly on the precision of the subtractive machining process:

  • Internal Flow Channel Machining: Utilizing high-speed CNC milling to create zigzag circulation paths or micro-channels within the metal block. This design maximizes the heat exchange area between the coolant and the contact surface, ensuring heat from the SCR/IGBT is rapidly absorbed.

  • Flatness and Surface Roughness Control: The contact surface between the Cold Plate and the component base is machined to absolute flatness and ultra-fine surface roughness. This eliminates microscopic air pockets, allowing thermal paste to be spread as thinly as possible, optimizing thermal contact resistance (Rth).

     
  • Hermetic Sealing Technology (FSW): Implementing Friction Stir Welding (FSW) to join cooling plate layers. This method creates a robust solid-state joint that withstands high flow pressures without leaking liquid into sensitive electrical systems.

Professional Export Packaging and Preservation Process

Liquid cooling plate components require strict protection of surface flatness and the cleanliness of internal channels. VINACNC implements a rigorous international standard packaging process:

  1. Ultrasonic Cleaning: Thoroughly removes residual chips, machining oils, and impurities from internal circulation channels using industrial ultrasonic systems before packaging.

  2. Surface Anti-Oxidation: Each Cold Plate is wrapped in protective PE film or placed in specialized VCI anti-rust paper to prevent salt-air humidity impacts during transit from Vietnam.

  3. Multi-layer Cushioning: Products are placed in shaped foam trays or thick bubble wrap to eliminate mechanical vibration and impact that could deform the precision contact surface.

  4. International Standard Crating: Components are packed in fumigated wooden crates (ISPM 15 standard) or high-grammage reinforced cartons with secure strapping.

  5. Traceability Labeling: Clear labeling displaying part codes, specifications, and barcodes for efficient destination logistics control.
